Hi new to the world of volvo bought an 89 740 turbo dirt cheap, kid sold it because he could not fix, car starts some times, drives fine then dies with no restart, two trys car starts drives home, when running runs fine, some times car do'nt start cold or hot, power on both sides of coil, timing lite flashes when cranked tach jumps when ignition switched on, lots of fuel pressure during crank don't want to get out the shotgun and just start throwing parts at it,
found some real good info here would like some tips on troubleshooting and any hints to get this brick rolling

Dude, I hate my Volvo but, I want to love it! My turbo has problems too! With the help of this board I may have solved an intermitent issue that has plagued me for the last 8 months... Make sure the connection to the coolant temp sensor under #3 intake runner is good. If the connection is poor the ECU will dump too much fuel into the cyls.... car will die instantly!!!!

hey thanks will look there next some kids tried hotrodinng this thing and it was a mess cars clean engine stuff mikeymoused. thanks for the tip so your car would run then die start like it was flooded then run fine, this problem would come and go when ever. my car ran fine until stomped on gas and she quit, no restart, cycled key started like it was flooded then drove home fine. I need a good book! This problem has been going on for months,kid I bought car from gave up, he saved all parts removed (air box exhaust etc.)in his quest for more power, putting car back to stock, would like to drive this car to work but need to get rid of problem thanks for your tip, your car runs fine now? ................J.C.
