Deves piston rings question

Does anyone has experience with Deves piston rings? They say the oil ring is a 4 piece ring somewhat stiffer than the Volvo original oil ring, but that it does get loose with the engine warm. Does this mean that the ring is hard when engine is cold? During a cold start this would be bad over time. They also say the compression ring is not chromed, so it will not be hard on the cylinder walls. All this makes no sense to me. Stiff oil ring, soft compression ring. What do you think? Thanks

Deves piston rings question

I have almost all of a spare deeves set for a 89 244 because I busted one ring when I did the engine in my wifes 240. it is .030 over. I went with the new mahle pistons, but broke the one ring by gently tapping the piston in ,, oops.. the Mahle ring had a stepped edge, yup, it is brittle.. remember the hoseclamp trick? better to have a proper ring compressor.. hindsight is 20/20.. the Mahle rings did have a hard chrome, or something ( silver ) but the mahle ones were black. ,, bet I could break those too.. :)
anyone want to do a cheapo re ring job on a 240? just use one ring over? hmmm.
Phil
