Mitsubishi TD05 Turbo - Wastegate hose 700 1989

What are the symptoms of a leaking or plugged hose -- that is, the small hose (about 5mm diameter -- about 4-6" in length) that connects the wastegate to the (actuator? cbv?) on the turbo?

Thanks!

Mitsubishi TD05 Turbo - Wastegate hose 700 1989

The hose from the compressor output to the wastegate actuateo?
If the pressure signal isn't getting to the wastegate actuator there could be excessive boost, possibly enough to hit the fuel cut switch and cause severe hesitiation.

Thanks. I'm experiencing a high piched shrill like sound when the turbo kick's in. It seems louder when the engine is cold. Is not as loud when warmed up, yet is still very noticeable. The sound increases upon initial boost then is not audible as the boost is increased. The turbo; however, seems to boost fine. I guess then that this hose would probably not be the issue since there does not appear to be an overboost problem.

Are you familiar with what may cause this?
