Power steering A/C bypass information 200

I did a power steering pump mount modification. Basically using nylon and metal spacers, with some longer bolts. I was about to move the pump out about a half an inch forward. When coupled with a 10x1015 belt, it aligned on the front pulley, that normally spins the A/C compressor. The modification does not allow the use of the factory tensioner, I could probably have rigged something up - but its an easy belt to tighten with ample pry point.

That looks like a good solution for '86-up 240s, which can't use the IPD kit.

Is the nut on the throughbolt a self-locking kind?

Yes.

I also used self locking on the tension side. I used an large nut between two washers as a spacer to get the other side of the bracket spaced out. There is not enough travel to use the factory adjuster.

I've also seen the AC bypassed on an '87 without moving the PS pump.

The front Alternator belt was replaced by a long belt running in the middle crank pulley groove - to alt - WP pulley - PS pulley -- back to crank pulley.

This long belt cut across the lower edge of the rubber plug in the T Belt cover, but otherwise seems to work OK.

The belt # is "7520 GATESXL 11A1320"
