Straight, rust-free (as far as I know) and just a couple of miles from me. 444-544

Here's a PV544 that showed up on eBay this morning:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10076&item=4552703937&rd=1

It looks like the car that I used to drive past in Alta Sierra (just up the mountain from Wofford Heights) when I went to visit my Dad. About the time I bought my PV that car disappeared.

From the description it sounds like it wouldn't take much to get her running again, and the body and interior look very good.

I wrote the seller a note, and I'll probably make an appointment to drive over on Sunday or Monday to look at it in person.

If anyone is interested in buying it, let me know. I really don't need another car right now! If someone else doesn't buy it I probably will...*sigh*

Steve

Yep, Steve.

Looks like a diamond in the rough to me. Tell us more about what you find. I only have 2 Volvos so far... I need a couple more to get in the hunt around here!!

Hasn't run in 4 years. Sorta like hasn't run in a week as I see it. My wagon hadn't run in 18 years and my coupe sat for 25 years.

Be nice to drive a car that has run since before my 17 year old son was born!!!

Tell us more about what you find, Steve.

Hmmmmm! A PV, eh! I'll step in to save ya, man!

Mike

I just got an e-mail from the seller; it IS the car I knew about. He sent me his phone number so I'll call him and drive over to look at it in a couple of days.

There is a metal scrap heap in south San Diego, where I take all the metal pieces that pile up around the shop. Several years ago, as I was dropping off an old washer, or somesuch, a tractor-trailer pulled across the scales, loaded down with flattened hulks of cars. There, squeezed in among the "soon to be Hyundais", was the remains of my old red 240. No mistake*, a parent knows their child. Anywhere. Sigh. Dust to dust.
