960 still won't stay running! Any advice?

My 93 960 Runs for 3 seconds and dies. I've replaced all wiring between power stages and coils, coils and Ign relay. All grounds are clean and added new between battery, ps's, engine and chassis. PULLS NO CODES EXCEPT 1-1-1 on all ecu's - except when I forget to pull something back in(cam, tps, ect). I've tried replacing with other parts: ECU 3x, cam sensor 3x, crank sensor 3x, ect 2x, fuel relay resoldered 3x, ign \fuel underhood relay -had 1 exta switched between both, ign switch, tried direct power to underhood ign and fuel relays. 43# + fuel pressure, new fuel filter and intank pump. Bypass fuel pump relays. Clean throttle body, flame trap. Replaced IAC 1x. Won't stay running on carb cleaner or starting fluid. What's our best advice dynamite, gas and a flare?

960 still won't stay running! Any advice?

hi.
correct me if I am wrong...
but I would like to suggest that you should ( I'm sure you are trynig to ! )
determine WHAT EXACTLY is not happening when it stops running...or what exactly is the reason ( or reasons that it won't run ) .

i.e. determine if it is lack of ingniton,
lack of firing the injectors,
lack of signalling the fuel pump to run,
lack of fuel pressure, or of fuel, or even bad fuel, like water in it.

some of the tricks I use to try to figure stuff out like that is ...
oh, for example, ....put an inicator light on the fuel pump positive wire so I can tell when that signal is there and when it quits...
like if that light went out followed immediately by engine dying ...that would point to the signal droppnig out, which is I admit is unlikely.

or, connecting a timing light to it, if you can....just so you can see if igntion is what's quitting.
( bascially keep coming up with a theory of what might be happening that matches the symtom...then come up with a way to test that theory. I don't think everyone understands that this is the mental process when a tail light is out and you go to check the bulb, check for voltage at the contacts, etc...but that's what it is, over and over until you find it. Come up with a theory that matches the symtom, test that theory.
When you can't access something....like a good old fashioned spark plug wire...that makes it a lot harder too ! unfortunately.

some things that can make an engine not run , some very obvious,
some not usually thought of :

lack of ignition,
lack of injector signal,
lack of fuel pressure,
no fuel pump signal,
CLOGGED EXHAUST or CAT.....don't belive you've considered that.
BAD FUEL...as in wrong fuel, or water in the fuel.

if you can catch 'what it does' as it dies....that would be good....
if you can even get to you are sure that the ingnition is fine and the fuel injection isn't happening, or vis versa...or whatever that would help greatly.

also GROUNDS ...GROUND connections can cause havoc...you need to make sure the grounds for everythig are good....the injectors, engine to body, ecu ground....the ECU probably in the harness, and yo need to check that it is good. ....etc.

good luck....sounds like it might be a tricky one !

just want to share this diagnostic thing I did once I thought was kinda clever...gas engine that would start and idle, but wouldn't rev out. I suspected clogged exhaust. By removing a spark plug and running it on 3 cylinders, it would rev out just fine because the exhaust pressure was able to go back out that one cylinder without its spark plug !...then all I had to do was take apart the exhaust piece by piece until I found it...a rear muffler with a baffle out of place, clogging the exhust.

Also exchanged power stages, and tried w/o gas cap on.

Have you tried the fuel pressure regulator, or checked your fuel pressure?
