1996 960 heater core 900 1996

I think I need an new heater core, and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what brands to buy and what to stay away from?

I recommend the Volvo OE heater core.

Hi charlie,

That's too bad, what a PITA. I replaced the core in my 745T and it was quite a job. Plus, it appears as though there is something wrong with the core I put in as I'm smelling coolant again :( At least the core is still under warranty. The one I put in is a Four-Seasons brand and it will be replaced by a Nissens core, which is supposed to be stock. I'd go with a Nissens core and make sure you use quality coolant and distilled or deionized water.

Heater cores and evaporators are labor intensive operations that you only want to do one time. Because of that I always use factory Volvo cores.
