B18 Head Stampings 120-130

I have a spare B18 head for rebuilding. The head it will replace is on a '65 B18D (I think, as it has dual SUs) 4-dr automatic and is stamped "JAG" and "1-418" over "205", "A103", and inside the valve cover is "2". The spare is stamped "MAG" and "1-418" over "205" and B26, and inside the valve cover is "21".

Do I have the right head? Is there a head stamping reference anywhere?

Many thanks in advance.

I'm not sure wether one could relate much from those casting numbers. I do know that a B18D head should be 88,0 mm high, and a B18B head should either be 86,2 or 87,0 mm high. Offcourse, this is only true for heads that have not been shave down in the past....

cheers, ben

Thanks for the info. I measured it to be 86.5 mm so it looks like I have a B18B head, not a B18D.
