Central locking installation success. And questions. 200 1987

I have had this original, unused kit laying around for quite some time (pic1), and this Saturday I finally got around to installing it. Everything works fine.

Some notes/questions:
(1) My 1987 had the reinforced, box-type lock clip. I had to split the clip to install the plastic ring, and found it impossible to put it together again afterwards; the ring was too large (pic2). So now I'm left with only one half of the original clip. Is this correct?

(2) I noticed that the relays on this kit from 1993 were Hella, as opposed to the Lucas relays on a system I removed from a 1986 model 245 once. This is good, I suppose?

(3) On the driver's door, I routed a section of the harness between the door and the door cover. It seemed to be very easy to get it pinched by the power window mechanism if I didn't.

(4) My car has a remote controlled alarm system. I would like to put an actuator in the driver's door and splice the central locking together with the alarm for keyless entry. Comments/advice on this will be greatly appreciated.

I did this on my daughter's 83. The driver's door is predrilled to mount the actuator, as it is the passenger door in right-hand-drive markets. You need an actuator from any door and the linkage from the passenger's front door. The bracket on any actuator can be reversed as needed. I got my parts from the DIY junkyard -not as nice looking as yours, but working OK so far.

I rigged the system with a separate relay connected to the unlock wire of the driver's door actuator, as the keyless entry unit I bought has the driver's door 'priority unlock'. A second press of the button unlocks the other doors. All doors lock on the 'lock' signal.

If your alarm system has the driver's door priority unlock feature, I have the entire wiring diagram of my setup (90% of it copied from my Volvo Green book) as an Excel draw file and can email to you.(see profile)

On (4), the easiest solution is to use a dual-function aftermarket switch/actuator . I fitted such to both front doors to be able to open the kerbside door with a key while holding onto small children. Why the Swedes did not anticipate this need beats me.
