small hose on flame trap: please need quick help!!! 200

Where does that small hose coming out of the flame trap go? I understand it goes to the intake manifold but where?? I need a picture or something. The old flame trap I removed had the small stem for the small hose broken off. (bought the car used). I've got a new flame trap and housing to install but don't know where to hook the small hose to?

Thanks!

IF (big if) your 1989 is like my 1988, both B230F, that little hose slips over a nipple on a brass ferrule threaded into the intake manifold Rail #2, pointing rearward.

I believe the vacuum hose for the cruise control, and the one for cabin air controls, have a very similar ferrule to connect to.

If you can't see the ferrule, or a hole, or a brass bit with it's "nose" broken off, maybe the 1989 is way different.

Good Luck,

Bob

OOPS! Disregard that. I noticed you have an '89 with a different engine. Didn't intend to mislead you, just eager to help.

Are the 89 and 93 B230F engines different? I've looked on this engine and I can't find a brass nipple that isn't already connect to something. And none of those connections have loose ends.

I'm working on an '81 so I'm in a totally different ballpark than you. Disregard my advice...I'm so sorry to take you down the wrong path.

Should be top of the manifold, toward the passenger side of the car. Look right into the space between the second and third runners, right where the runners start out from the "main" part of the manifold toward the cylinders. Make sure the fitting is not plugged up (you can ream with a toothpick or similar implement) and stick the hose back on. Good luck!

Before reaming, it's good to remove nipple with the right size wrench (10 mm??).
Better than pushing the crud into the intake.
