headed north to pick up my P210 rust bucket 444-544

Hi All, First, thanks for all the help on the brick. On a whim I purchased a P210 in March from a guy in eastern British Columbia. I'm not sure if it was cabin fever, a hot flash of midlife crisis, or what, but what is done is done.

I found a very nice retired Volvo mechanic in the area who brought the wreck to his place where he has been slowly working on it. Now, tomorrow, I'm headed from Portland where I've had business to pick the thing up and tow it on a car dolly back to Utah where I live.

I am looking at lots of body work but strangely enough, I'm pretty excited at the prospects. In the past I've owned three 122's and they took me to some great places. In fact, my old wagon took me on many tracks where only Jeeps were seen. So here we go. I'll report when I get the thing home, that is if it doesn't fall apart on the way. --

I wonder if I should have waited, or traveled further to buy a better looking PV544 than Beetlebomb, who just joined our family. I had even further doubts when I discovered how rusty the floor pans were due to water trapped there. (I had crawled all under the car and the bottom looks great - outside!)

BUT, I wanted a lovely old brick to spend time in the garage with. She needs me. I am saving her life!

Look at it that way - and enjoy.

...and besides, rusty floor pans aren't a big deal; nearly anyone can do a good job of replacing them.

There seem to be a lot of 444/544's in the Southwest. If anyone sees one they want a better report on, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

There have been three rust-free 544's sold near here in the last month.
