I finished up the starter replacement and connected the neg battery cable. The lights flashed and the horn beeped as if I set the alarm off. I have no idea what type of alarm is on the car, but does anyone know of a way to reset it? I believe it has the red blinking lights on top of the dash to show that the alarm is working. Right now the car has power when I turn the key to the on position, but no action at all happens- it will not attempt to start.

I'd appreciate any help as the car is currently a hunk of metal sitting in the driveway and the next step is to tow it to the dealer.

Try locking,then unlocking the drivers side door. Then try to start it.

Tried the door lock/unlock, still no start. Turn the key and power comes on, but no starter action.

Try this--roll the windows down-- get out of car and shut the door--reach in and hit the lock button--wait about 30 seconds--reach inside and unlock the door and open it from the door frame not from the master lock.
This should set the alarm off again--with it going off--then reset the alarm system with the locking and unlocking of the doors with your key.

Okay, I tried that as well and the alarm went off, but still won't start. It is probably another switch or sensor that is shot.

My only reply would now to be , have you checked the hot wire to make sure it's getting power to the starter? Is there power coming thru the hot wire? Take a voltage meter to the wire and check for power while someone is trying to turn the car over. No power you have to check back thru the harness,power being there means the starter is bad.

After installing a rebuilt starter and a new battery the car starts up and runs fine. Thanks for all the suggestions.
