I have not replaced the knock sensor. Found one for around 35$ for my '91 940 turbo wagon and would like to replace it myself if possible, but I'm not sure where it is on the car. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Knock sensor is under the intake manifold behind the coolant gauge sensor. See the 700/900 FAQ under "select link" menu above.
