Last DIY models?

I'd like a list of the last years / models Volvo produced which did NOT require any "comes with software, and cannot be installed outside the dealership" parts.
I live over a hundred miles from the nearest dealer, and am about to get into the second time on the same car where an electronic part failure is likely to require a flatbed trip on top of the dealer charges. Next car, if it's a Volvo at all, I want to start going back in time at least far enough that a competent local mech can get the parts and put them in if I can't handle it myself with the aid of the Brickboard.

If you are talking rear wheel drive, then I would say that the '95 940/945 was the last. But others would include some of the later 6 cylinder RWD models.
