dim headlights

A Portland Volvo shop told me I need to improve the ground for my headlights because they are dim and the high beam glows faintly when the low beams are on. It's an 1988 740 GLE wagon. How to "improve the ground"?
Many thanks.

Get a schematic and find where it grounds at. Remove the ground wire, clean it up, put a "star" washer on it so it gets a good bite and shoot it all back together.

Thanks Mzrk. I'm going to start the hunt for the ground and do as you suggest.
This is an amazing site!

No problem, I had one today that came in with a missing ground. The screw that secured it had fallen out completely and every time she hit the horn the rear wiper would run. When you get components that either work slow or don't work at all yet something else electrical runs when you try to use them it is a dead give away that you have a ground problem.
