760 89 rear wheel bearings endfloat 700

gave the rear suspension a quick look over today on my 89 760 gle estate.
Strangely ive found the rear wheel bearings have about 12 thou endfloat,(Used a dial gauge) but no play otherwise.
Are the rears on this model taper roller bearing, rather than the usual bearings,it doesnt strike me as normal this amount of endfloat, can they be adjusted if tapers are fitted.
Another point is that the car was used for towing a caravan, with 132000 miles on the clock, could it be they are just worn out?

They are tapered rollers- no spec given for end play (float) The bearing presses on the axle and a lock ring retains the bearing.
End play is necessary on tapered rollers, just don't know how much?
My guess: .012" is most likely OK?
