i am wondering what the .96 and .98 numbers on my 242 and 245 speedomters mean, can these be interchanged?

They are the # of elec. signal ticks or pulses per Km.
I know that wagons and sedans were spec'd for different size tires and so had different #s on the speedometer.

If I recall, wagons are 9800 or 98000, and sedans are 10x00x (slightly higher # due to smaller diam tire rotating more times per Km.)

Don't know about the 242 - it could be the same as the 4-door, or if it was spec'd for a third size tire, would hve a different #.

I had an '86 wagon (electronic speedometer) where I needed a new speedo. I put in one from a sedan. Worked fine except it was off by a small percentage.
