heat shield making noise 200

My heat shield (the one upstream the cat) is makning a rattleing noise. I have tried to attached it with a clamp, but it keeps rattling.

Any suggestings on how to attach it, without removing it and such that it does not rattle.

I used sheet metal screws in between the shield and the pipe, at both ends and its lasted for years....

It's a pain but Because of the Clamshell design, I cut some of the area where the two halves meet so a Hose clamp would actually compress it against the Pipe. It also made it such that the hose clamp wont walk off it in time.

I fastened a hose clamp around mine. I may be mistaken, but isn't it there to keep your cat in the right temp range?

Just Remove It. 200

Just remove it. It really serves no purpose other then with time to come loose and rattle and drive you crazy. I would say that at this point in time half of them on 240's have been removed and the other half are rattling. Remove it.

All my sheet metal screws eventually loosened or fell out, my stainless hose clamps needed periodic tightening, so after I found out a new head pipe from the dealer's parts counter does not have heat shields, I felt no guilt at all slicing through the spot welds with a putty knife and discarding the thing.
