Who know anything about KYB gas adjust shocks and the ride they give? 120-130

Looking at KYB kg5514 front ($32.00) and kg4006 rear ($33.00) for my 220. I want stiffer thean I have now but nothing too nasty (my present shocks are too soft in the rear and the front seems to washboard too easily on rough asphalt. If anyone has any suggestions I woulf appreciate it. BTW they are called gas adjust but there is actually no adjustment possible.

I have KYBs on my '67 122s (thanks, PO). They are quite stiff but I do not think they are "harsh." I also recently replaced all the bushes and used as much Poly as IPD had available.

The tires are Kelly Metrics from about 15 years ago on stock rims.

I am watching for the reported "tearing" of the upper rear mounting area but no issues as yet (but only about 600 miles so...).

My Amazon had KYBs when I got it and the ride was really harsh. Bilsteins were an improvement, albeit expensive. New bushings and progressive springs on the front have improved things even further.

Strange, I have them on my '70 142 and find the ride to be very good. Maybe my frame of reference is different, my previous car was a 855-R with K&W coil-overs and poly bushings, but to me the ride in the 142 is fine. My car also has stock springs and crappy all-weather tires.

They may not be the same shocks for a 140, so we're comparing apples with rhinos here.

I think they're stiff enough to be considered nasty.

I have them on my 142, and I can feel every bump in the road... It's pretty stiff, but I like it how it is. Stock springs as far as I know, and old crappy tires(that may add some harshness to the ride).

I have them on my PV and 142. There is little doubt in my mind that they are too stiff for the PV. On the 142 it is less objectionable, partly because I have somewhat heavier than normal springs in the rear, and it is a heavier car. I'll be replacinbg the ones on the PV with something less harsh -- haven't made up my mind about the 142. I had them on a "81 245, and liked the somewhat stiffer ride, but was surprised they lasted only about four years, less than 50K miles. The original Volvo shocks were good for nearly twice that mileage.
