I'm taking off on a road trip to Halifax (from Toronto) in a couple of days, thought that the old girl was all ready for the ride until I found that both motor mounts are pretty much shot. No time to change them @ this point before I roll, so I ask if there's an issue with taking the trip with the car as is. I've only owned the car for about 5 months and I'm assuming they've been gone for some time now. The trek will be about 4000kms round trip. I'll probably purchase the new mounts before I leave and replace them once I'm there. I assume these are dealer only items?

Thanx all. Picked some up today from an aftermarket dealer here in Toronto. $135 each new - made by Corteco. A little pricey but there's not many aftermarket places to choose from here. Cheers.

They won't do any harm if they haven't already - and the extent of the possible damage is usually limited to the fan scraping against the shroud a bit while pulling away under heavy throttle. It also can put a bit of extra strain on your exhaust hangers. That said, the jaunt from TO to Hfx and back will be less wear and tear on the car than a few hundred kilometres of stop-&-go city driving.

You'll be fine if your mounts are shot. IT's usually more of an annoyance from all the sound/vibrations transmitted through the car.
