Large Transmission leakage 200

Hi All,
1990 244 NA - AW70 transmission.
I am looking for some help in diagnosing a large transmission leakage
problem. The transmission leaks after being driven (fully warmed up,
20 miles or so) and parked. 5 minutes later looking under the car
transmission fluid can be seen dripping at a rather rapid rate out
of the vents in the bellhousing (the ones you can see the torque
convertor through). It leaves a puddle about 16"x12" - so... I decided
to stop driving the car - Note, when the engine is running I have not
seen any dripping occur. I bought all of the transmission seals (front,
tailshaft, tailshaft bushing, o-rings, etc. and am planning to replace.
Also, after reading many posts here on the brickboard I am also
planning to replace the rear main seal on the engine.

Here is the question.
I pulled the transmission out last night. There is fluid all over the inside
of the bell housing (all 360 degrees).
Is this indicative of front transmission seal failure? The back side
of the torque convertor appears to be dry, shouldn't it have trans
fluid on it as well if the seal has failed?
I certainly don't want to put the tranny back in and see it leaking again.

Thanks for the help in advance.

That is really the only seal in there. Replace it and the rest of the seals and it will be fine.

Thanks,
I was just looking for some reassurance.
I should be able to have it back together
by tomorrow night, hopefully without
leaks!
