I have a 1991 240. I've wrestled with the taillights to keep them bright and working.
There is a post of Web page that details the installation of some variants of 740/940 taillights on a 240 so long as the 240 already had the wrap around tail light assemblies.
I found a late 1980s 740 turbo. The are not directly interchangeable. At the very least, you must drill (and seal - paint to seal bare metal) holes as the 740 tail light mount studs don't match the 240 tail light receiver holes on the 240 bum. You may also need to use new neoprene or tougher gasket and gasket sealant.
Finally, you have to match the 740 taillight wire harness to the 240. Not to hard. However, the 240 dash mounted "burned out bulb" light may balk and remain illuminated due to changed or unbalanced conductivity resistance or load.
May be a great time to convert to LED bulbs, too. Brighter, way cooler, though you have to wire up a resistor to the turn signal LEDs (front and rear) so the turn signal relay sees a proper load and clicks on and off as it should.
So, if I find anything, I'll let you know.
The new brickboard! More power to the Volvo people, worldwide!!!!
Long live all of Sweden and her lovely people as with Scandinavia and the Baltic nations!!! Let's save the Baltic sea!!!! Truly, these are just and verdant nations.
No longer true of the USA. If it ever was. The Wiemar Republic redux.
cheers,
dud.
