lurching/jerking during acceleration 200 1988

I've been experiencing a jerking/lurching of my 245 during accelerating. The car is a 5 speed, and it tends to do this just after engaging in a gear. The clutch will be out and i will begin to accelerate (most common when climbing hills) and the car will jerk 2 to 3 times, and then continue normally. I'm not sure if the problem is in the transmission or in the fuel system. It kind of feels like the car isnt getting fuel for a split second or something. For the record, at all other times the car rides/idles very smooth and never fails to start. Any info anyone has would be appreciated. thanks a lot.

Check the intake system for air leaks. I solved a stumbling-on-acceleration issue when I found a split in the 'accordion' duct from the AMM to the throttle body. On acceleration the engine torqued over enough in its mounts to open the split up and air bypassed the AMM, sending the fuel mixture way lean.

i had this problem with my 83 245 turbo wagon. it was overpressure switch which could turn off the fuel pump relay. i bypassed the overpressure switch and it ran fine. i don't know if you have a turbo, but i would think its probably got something to do with the electrical portion of the fuel system.

I'd start by checking the clutch adjustment and cleaning the throttle body. Might also be sure your fuel pumps are OK.
Of the above it's the clutch which I'd consider the prime suspect.
