Hello Tom; You don't state the year of the 745, but if it is in nice shape, and runs out well, then $1500 sounds like a great price. If you are unsure of the running condition, take it to a good mechanic and have them do a pre-purchase inspection for you. It ususally only cost about $50-80, and can save lots more than that in the long run. Sorry to hear that we lost another 240 wagon. And a GL to boot.

I have a '91 745 and there is no wood in mine (well, excepting the plywood deck in the back). I've been in turbos and haven't seen wood trim there either.

$1500 is a good price if it's running well and isn't rusty. If you already have a 940 then you are familiar with the Rex-Regina engine management this car has if it is not a turbo.

Overall, I prefer the 740s to the 240s. Which isn't to say I don't love 'em both. That's especially true if you ever need a blower motor.

Go for it.
