B23 head on a B21? 200

Question

Can I use a B23 (Blacktop) head on a B21 engine?
Im assuming it will give me higher compression but will it fit and what am I likely to experience.

Heres the drum,
After a brief period of Volvo Abstinence Ive bought an 82 245 Manual.
It has a cracked head (Summised by the water that pours into the combustion chamber when the car sits still so Im guessing its not just a gasket)

I also have a 79 245 auto, poor body with a late B23 in good nick and I would like to have a play without having to bugger around swapping complete engines hence the head swap idea.

Cheers,

Tony

You'll lose compression, because you're bolting it onto a block with smaller displacement than the head was designed for. You could have it shaved, although I don't know how much you could take off without resulting in valve clearance issues.

I'm pretty sure it's a drop on. I asked that question some time back and got an affirmative.
