Sorry for the doble posting. Network issue.

I've been told my inner and outer tierods (I assume this means tierods and tierod ends, right) need replacing. Two questions:

1. How do I determine whether or not to replace my tierod boots? Or should I just do it as a matter of course?

2. I was experimenting on a car at a junkyard, but couldn't figure out how to remove the tierod from the rack. Bentley seems mute on the issue. any good sources for research?
