940T A/C problem 900 1993

I have a 93" 940T with 140K miles and yesterday my wife called me and said the A/C wasn't cooling. We I got home I checked and the compressor wasn't kicking on so I thought that the system was possibly low on freon. I tried to feed in a can hoping that the can pressure would be enough to make the system pressure switch an energize the compressor which it did not. In reading some of the past responses on the brickboard it looks like I could try and isolate the pressure switch by jumping 12V to the connector going to the switch or just jumping two terminals on the connect to simulate the switch operating correctly I wasn't sure of the proper method. If not the problem it looks like the control unit solder joints is the next possibility - is this directly behind the fuse panel in the center console ? Are there any other things I should check first ?
