Replacing CIS Injector Seals; Possibly Injectors 200 1982

Hi Guys,

I have a well maintained 82 242 with remanufac. engine (about 50k on it now) (290k miles + overall) that appears to have a bad injector seal. You can hear it suck a little air when behind the wheel, and pushing down on #3 injector causes the sound to cease. Engine still idles well at low RPM and runs well, although the mileage is down a bit over the last few months (air/fuel mixture off?).

I intend to replace all of the seals on the injectors and was wondering if anyone who has done this job on the older CIS system injectors had any pointers and cautions to offer? It looks pretty straightforward...I've done this job on other somewhat newer Bosch injection systems.

I was also wondering if you thought I should consider replacing the injectors while I am at it? I have always run fuel system cleaner through it about twice a year and the car appears to run smoothly at all RPM ranges. However, IPD sells them at a reasonable price, there is over 290k on the original injectors, and I'll have things apart anyway... Your thoughts? Thanks.

Regards, Dave in Northern Cal
