86 to 89 drivetrain swap - questions 200

My daughter has an 89 244 with a beautiful body and a terrible drivetrain. She also has an 86 with a terrible body and a beautiful drivetrain. Will the engine, transmission and rear end swap straight from the 86 to the 89? The 89 is has an M47, the 86 an automatic.
