760 Wheel bearing, question about the FAQ 700 1988

I just took a peek at the instructions for a 760 IRS rear wheel bearing replacement in the FAQ, and it describes the use of several Volvo special tools. Am I going to need some kind of mystery drift or puller that does not exist outside the dealership, or are there "real world" solutions (like the "nylon rope through the plug hole" trick)?

FCP was selling a ScanTech bearing, I've heard that it's quite a hit and miss operation with that particular brand, some parts are good, some.. well, not so good.
