Air slide options 140-160 1972

I know this topic has been discussed before but I dont remember the answer. What are the alternatives to the mechanical spring loaded air slide? Can an electrical equivalent from a 240 (or some other choice) be mounted and routed to some sensor which will cause it to open and close along with changes in engine temp. All suggestions cheerfully accepted.
