problem making center brake light work 200 1992

hello all brickboarders, my question today is how to get the center brake light to work on a 245 wagon. i checked the lamp and changed it ,checked the continuity on the wire to the light and the ground and it all looked good. even ran a wire from the left side brake light to the center light and it did not light i am running out of ideas. any one have some ideas? Rich
