my new wagon! 200 1988

i just picked up an 88 240 dl wagon to replace my 83 that got ruined.....

i know, based on the prior owner's service records, that the car needs new trailing arm bushings, and possibly control arm bushings (not sure if that's exactly the same - you can tell how mechanically minded i am!!!!)

anyway, the car is incredibly loud. the noises are seeming to come from:
right front seat, possibly the front wheels: when i put it in park after driving it a while, it makes several clunks before being quiet. the vibrations are enough that it makes the dashboard vibrate, which is also annoying.

vibration under the front seats....the vibrations seem to get worse on acceleration, and especially worse when the car is approaching a gear shift (AT transmission)

in anyone's experience, are broken bushings incredibly LOUD? my last wagon was quieter than this, and the noise is a little un-nerving. i had my my mechanic do a few things (water pump, cam seals, tranny mount) and the clunk from the bad tranny mount is gone but the other noises seem loud to me.

incidentally, i bought it for 900 bucks w/ 208K on it, and it had already had replaced before i bought it:
Air mass meter
blower motor
cat' converter just about 6 months ago
overdrive solenoid
newer tires
new fuel injectors
new fuel pump
pretty new tires

body is in pretty good shape. has 3 minor parking lot dings on the driver side, but the paint is shiny....and it has a CD player, which is a whole new world for me. one of the hatch door hinges is leaking h20 into the back so i have to get that fixed too.

any insight on the noises (it kind of sounds like a lawnmower or a race car to me) appreciated. i may take it to one of those meineke or midas places to get a free look from them....

thanks!
