Just got a new intake/exhaust manifold gasket for the '70. It is an Elring gasket and is a soft composition, but has metal surrounding the exhaust ports on one side.

The question...which side gets the metal? I think the metal side would go against the manifold and NOT the head. Is this correct? The gasket that came off (assumed to be the original) did not have the metal reinforcement.
