The problem is on my 164 but I figure the same solution(s) work across the board....
So my new 164 has a stuck front passenger side caliper. It didn't give me much warning (I didn't have a chance to get home) before the thing started leaking fluid and I had no brakes. I checked out the other brakes and they seemed alright. The bad caliper is rusted shut (open) and I can't do much with it at all. My question is.... How and could I safely cut off the offending caliper from the rest of the brake system so that I can safely move the car? Could I just cap the lines running to that caliper? How safe is it to drive with 3 brakes? If it is feasible, what is the best way to bypass the bad one? The rotor I'm sure is beyond repair as is this caliper, at this point but, finding a reasonably priced caliper and rotor may take some time. To make things even more difficult it's a 75 164 with fuel injection meaning ATE caliper up front right?
Thanks,
Jerry
