putting 240 manual trans into a 740T manual trans 700

I've got an 84 240 manual wagon and a 90 740T manual wagon. I really think the transmission in the 740 has a bad bearing/gear in first (and reverse) noticed especially under load. Can't hear the noises in any other gears, which leads me to blame the transmission. The 84 is on it's way out but the transmission seems fine at 190k miles - can i drop it in to the 740? Both have overdrive.

How hard is this to do on a concrete slab? (as opposed to a lift)
