240 Wagon rear end 200 1984

I have an '84 240 wagon Auto and I'd like to replace the rear end axle/diff assy off a newer one from a junkyard. Anybody know if a newer model bolts right in? I'd like to get rid of the humming sound from the existing rear end thats done all of the 268k miles so far.
