Hi,
two evenings ago, at 2:00 AM, I added a liter of Dexron ATF to my leaky, low-in-fluid, slipping BW35 (which requires Type F ATF) just so it would maybe get me home. All garages were closed and 1 liter of Dexron was all I had with me.
Before adding the Dexron, the transmission wouldn't 'grab' at all anymore. After, I managed to drive the mostly-flat 5 miles to my home at 15 km. an hour.
Once home, I topped-up the BW35 with the two liters of Type F ATF that were missing. Despite now being more than 80% full of the appropriate Type F fluid, the BW35 keeps slipping the moment my B20 engine reaches 1700 RPM. It wouldn't do that before the Dexron.
Is 1 liter out of 6 of the wrong ATF fluid sufficient to cause that? What could be the cure, a transmission flush maybe (hope not)?
Thanks in advance!
PS: I have an M41 waiting to go in the 245 when the planets are in right alignment. That should cure the BW35.
