Odometer Gears: Yellow vs. Green 120-130

I had to swap gearboxes in the P220 when I got it home. It's original gearbox lost too much oil on the trip home, and 2nd &3rd gears went out. When I pulled the gearbox, I discovered my original odometer gear inside, melted into oblivion.

I installed a replacement gearbox (I have two spares, both from Sedans) and a replacement odometer gear (all I had was yellow gears). I rehabbed the non-working odometer assembly (a stripped gear) with parts from my spare instrument cluster (also from a sedan). And it worked! I had a working tranny, working speedometer, working odometer.

Trouble is, the speedo looks a bit off. I haven't borrowed a GPS to test it yet, but I'm, fairly sure that it's not reading right. The odometer seems right. I figure that it's the yellow gear, and I ask around in here and a kind Brickboarder sends me a green gear.

So I lube it up properly, install it and think everything is fine and dandy.

However...
I notice pretty soon that my commute suddenly got shorter. It's like my destination suddenly moved 5 miles closer to my house.

Anyway, knowing that geography doesn't change to suit my convenience, I check my trip odometer against the mile-markers on the highway. It appears that my odometer registers 0.85-0.88 miles to every actual mile traveled.

So, what's going on here? This ought to be the correct gear for a P220, but it's clearly not working correctly. I could put the Yellow gear back in, but it ought not to workcorrectly with that gear. Were there actual gear differences between the odometers in the sedans and wagons? That seems unlike since the gear at the gearbox does vary, but make the instrument cluster non-interchangable?
