Manual Choke difficulties 200 1981

After my 81 B21A warms up, the can runs well, very well and smooth. When I pull the Choke and Start it, it will accelerate initially up to 1500 RPM, but if I get out of the car, it will then become rougher, loping, slower and slower and die. The exhaust smells rich, with black smoke. If I stay in the car and stick my foot to the accelerator pedal it will run, or if I push the Choke in and accelerate the engine it will run fine. It seems to be two minutes, before it will run, without my input.

Any thoughts on this?
