I was driving today and all of the sudden my power steering went out, and I thought "oh no I've ruined my ps pump" so I pulled over and oped the hood only to see the crank pully slanted and hitting the timing belt cover. I reached down there and found the bolt to be loose, it must have come loose after I torqued it to 44lbs after changing the timing belt last week(maybe I loosened it somehow when trying to get the rope out of the cylinder).
Anyway I had a friend bring me a torque wrench and a 24mm socket, this time I torqued it to about 55lbs, fearing that it might come loose again....
Is this ok to do, will it harm the engine block or pulley?
