Preventive maintenance for cooling system 900 1993

1993 940 Turbo. Previous experience 5 yrs ago coolant in tranny and transmission oil in radiator. Can someone explan how is this possible? Read that coolant could even go into the engine. Since my radiator is now 5 yrs, I intend to change it to Nissens including upper and lower hoses. What other hoses that I have to replace to prevent the problems I mentioned Oil in engine and/or tranny? Obviously, I understand the water pump and thermostat have to be replaced.
