My car:
1990 740 base
B230F (LT 2.4) cam-driven distributor
I was just poking around under the hood identifying parts and gizmos and such a few minutes ago looking for anything loose/disconnected/cracked. Et voila! I found a large-ish rubber vacuum hose with a LARGE split that went about .25" beyond the connector. The line was in otherwise good shape and had plenty of slack. I cut off about one inch using a very sharp pocket knife and reinstalled it.
Probably an okay fix????
Anyway, that was the third of my two questions (sorry).
Okay, looking from the front into the engine bay at the air filter box:
1. There is a sort of tube extension coming from the left side of the box as you look at it. The tube is about 1" to 1.5" in length with an ID of close to a dime in size. It is on the box's lid. What is it and is something supposed to be attached to it?
2. Lying in the space between the inner fender wall and the air filter box is a lone electrical connector that looks like a diagnostic port of some sort. There are a couple of similar connectors less than a foot away, farther up the fender wall, close to the strut tower. This lone connector is not plugged into anything and is not capped off. The connection holes are just open to the elements. As in the previous question: What is it? Is something supposed to be attached to it?
I could take photos and link to them, but I was hoping that my descriptions would suffice.
Any takers? (Final count: My two questions are really five questions. Aren't I slick for getting in those extra ones like that? Heh, heh, heh . . . )
