Striped oil pan thread solution 200

While changing my oil this Saturday I noticed that the threads were stripped on my oil pan plug hole.To make a long story short I hit on this solution. I purchased at a local parts store an Oil-Tite universal winged plug. It resembles what you put in dry-wall at one end & has a rubber plug with a brass wing nut at the other end. part # is 65240.You insert the wing nut part into the hole & it catches & you screw it in intil the rubber plug end is tight. Is this a good permanent solution or should I retap & put on the next larger size drain plug ? I went to SEARS & they did not have taps larger than 1/2 inch.I would need the 3/4 inch.I have 2 20 mm oil plugs that look like they could use the copper washers I still have. Is the Oil-Tite part a permanent solution? what is your experience with this ? What were your solutions ?
BTW last oil change before this one was at the Volvo dealer. This was the 1st time I ever had the oil changed by someone other than myself.I noticed that when I took out the old drain plug that it had sripped threads from the oil pan.The reason I had them do the oil change was due to the fact that I had surgery last March.I know I had good threads beforehand.I would not be surprised if they used an air wrench (UGH !)Car is '82 244DL 169K+ miles.
