Front Axle Bearing/Nut 900 1993

Have packed several 240 front bearings and am used to castle nuts and lots of grease. Took off for first time LF 940 front bearing cup and there's no castle nut and no grease, anywhere. Where is the grease? You could drink out of the dirt cup. Not a smear of grease anywhere. Hub spins freely. Have been unable to remove nut even with 18" breaker bar and don't have impact socket that large. 36mm socket a little large and wondering if nut is 34 or 35mm. Outside of grease cup is stamped 'torque to 65FPs'. FAQ mentions 45 fps and then unscrew 1/2 turn and then finger tighten but this is a distorted nut, not a castle type, that I haven't budged with a breaker bar. Nut is clean rust free and so are the treads. With out castle nut I would have expected a left-hand tread on left side of car and right hand on the other side. What's going on here? There has to be some grease. Would appreciate some ideas on how to service front bearings. Is there a web site with greenbook on front spindles? TIA
