loss of get up and go - vacuum, fuel pump??? 200 1989

Hello,- 1989 240 sedan, 124 k - I recently had my in tank fuel pump and relay replaced after they totally quit on me. Now, four days and 300 miles later, I was driving around town and suddenly lost all power (not electricity, just get up and go) for a second, when this happened the check engine light came on, then went off and the car resumed driving fine. A few seconds later it happened again, loss of power check engine light then the check engine light clicked off and car was fine. It is not throwing any codes, the Throttle pos. tests fine, the oxygen sensor tests fine, the only thing I found wrong with the car is a broken motor mount.
Under the dash at the vacuum canister I can hear a hiss when I step on the gas - when under idle, it only hissed when i wiggled the tubes - is that normal? Could a vacuum leak cause the check engine light to come on?
The idle has always had a tendancy to be a little uneven, never anything too noticable and that is sounding the same. I can't get the car to do it again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks everyone! Matt in Maine 89 240 sedan, 88 240 wagon
