While adjusting the valves on by B18 engine today, I applied a bit too much torque and managed to break off one of the adjustment bolts. I freaked. None of the local parts store could help me, I couldn't find my spare valve rocker and I was feeling really "screwed" However, lady luck smiled on me and I found a SINGLE spare adjustment bolt in my spare parts trove. Reinstalled, reassembled, adjusted and the car is back to working order.
A close call to be sure.
However, this highlights the need for spare parts of the engine variety. Just where would I find a replacement if I managed to break a second bolt?
