B 230 F Engine 900 1991

Interested in ideas to sell engine. Placed BB ad but thought I would get more feedback here.

Bought engine from local P&P. Have taken oil filler caps off dozens of 230 engines and bottom of most caps covered with thick layer of crude. Often wonder how often oil is changed to create such a filthy mess. Anyway, this was first engine I found that had a clean cap and valve cover. Don't know mileage as engine already pulled when I saw it. Bought it, took it home and did compression test. Results: 195,192,201,170. Suspect 170 from open valves while engine in storage. Have no idea how long engine in shed before I found it but open valves get rusty and will reseat when run. The other interesting feature of this engine in crankcase paint is still like-new Volvo red. Most used engines have scorched paint from over heating or have antifreeze damage from prolonged leak under thermostat housing. This engine taken care of and looks great. Do not know what year but assume it's a 91 as that is number cast in lower circle of three circles on back right side of head. Upper cicle has 5 and middle cicle a 7. Pictures help but have postponed digital camera purchase and can only invite interested buyers to come and look at it. It's mounted on an engine stand in my garage.

Now, if it's in such great shape, why is it for sale? Son found 93-940 in Chapel Hill, NC that seller ran without coolant for 12-15 miles. Seller wanted to drive car to his mechanic where he got hosed. Mechanic left block under hood and all other engine components in the trunk and gave seller bill for $1200 for disassembly. Evidently mechanic wasn't sure engine was fried until he looked at last scoured main bearing. Anyway, first time I see car I put the hood up and I'm looking down cylinder bore holes at circles of driveway under engine and there looking back are squirters. Never heard of them but they seem like a terrific idea and wanted an engine with them. Bought subject motor before I saw car and it took me over another year of removing oil filler caps to find a really good 230F with squirters. Finaly stumbled on one with 90k and syntec in the pan. It's a '94 B230FD and have removed the EGR and Pulsair systems. It's not in the car yet but close. Am getting tired of stumbling around 91 engine. If you are or know someone interested in finding a good 230F contact me through BB ad. If you have any ideas how to market it, I'm all ears. Most ebay engines, looking at 'previous sales' never sale. Thanks for reading this.
