I've posted previously about my efforts to make this 1980 242 with 158K miles my daily driver. The history is in this thread: http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo-997240.html
... or read on for the current situation.
The car has been running dependably after warmed up for a few weeks now (after finally getting the right fuel pump installed and installing a working fuel pump relay). It had a cold start problem - I had to spray in enough starter fluid to get it warm, then it ran like a champ.
Two days ago, after the car ran great the previous day, I could not get it started. It ran well as long as I was able to spray in starter fluid, then would die as soon as the spray stopped.
In working on it over the last couple days, I seem to have solved the cold start problem - I installed a new thermal sensor for the cold start injector. Now I have the opposite problem of when the car last ran: it runs well for 10 or 12 seconds on a cold start, then dies. As soon as the engine heats up to the point where the cold start injector stops working, the car won't start at all.
Any ideas where to look next? The main fuel pump I installed was used, but I can hear it running, and it delivered about 25 ounces of fuel in 30 seconds when I disconnected a hose under the intake manifold and put it in a bottle. I've tried to find a fuel pressure tester with a T fitting, but no luckm so I don't know pressure is being delivered.
Thanks again for your help!
