So the other day I left the car running while I went into the house. I was distractred and the car idled for about 20 minutes. When I came back steam was pouring out of the hood. Car was HOT. I turned it off, let it cool down added some water and was one my way. The car ran fine. Yesterday, things were different. I was out and all of sudden the temp shot up. I turned it off and popped the hood. Water was seeping out between the head and block.
So I have a job to do. I've done the head gasket on two different 700 series cars. Is there anything special I should know going into the job for the 164? I'm assuiming it wasn't the head gasket that caused it to overheat the first time so I guess I should look around to find the culprit. Is it true that the '75 radiator is impossible to replace? The core doens't look so good. About how much would it cost to recore that thing? Its a 1975 with injection if that changes anything.
Thanks
Gerald
